The Relais Christine is a 16th century residence that was built on the ruins of Saint Denis College in 1231 by Saint-Louis.
What is today the Musée de cluny was the first "hotel particulier" to stand, like the Relais Christine, between garden and courtyard. This kind of plan was often used during the 17th and 18th centuries in Parisian architecture as witnessed by numerous hotels such as Palais de l'Elysee or Hotel Matignon.
The medieval cellars used to be the kitchen. While having breakfast, you can still admire the old well and the majestic fireplace.

The hotel was fully renovated before it was opened to the public in 1979. The decoration was entirely designed by the owner who wants everybody to feel at home when coming to the Relais Christine.
Tucked in at the end of the narrow street from which it takes its name, the Relais Christine is a real haven of peace, made more so by the existence of a pleasant flowered garden.
This delightful and descreetly luxurious hotel has managed to preserve the intimacy of the private residence it once was.
